Our approach considers the surface, contamination, cleaning method, products, water use, runoff, surrounding environment and required result before work begins.
OUR ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENTS
Practical Measures That Reduce Environmental Impact
CleanSafe recognises that professional cleaning can involve water, chemicals, powered equipment, vehicles and disposable materials. Our aim is to manage those resources responsibly while still achieving the standard of cleaning and restoration required.
We focus on practical measures that can be applied consistently across our work.
1. Appropriate Cleaning Methods
We select cleaning methods according to the surface, contamination and required result. Where a lower-impact method can achieve the desired outcome, it will be considered in preference to unnecessarily aggressive cleaning.
2. Responsible Chemical Use
Cleaning products and biocides are selected and applied according to their intended use, manufacturer instructions and site conditions. We aim to use the minimum effective quantity and concentration required for the work.
3. Water & Runoff Management
We seek to avoid unnecessary water use and consider drainage, runoff, vegetation and surrounding surfaces before exterior-cleaning work begins.
4. Waste & Resource Efficiency
We aim to reduce avoidable waste, maintain equipment efficiently, reuse suitable materials where practical and plan work in a way that reduces unnecessary journeys and duplication.

Environmental Considerations Built Into the Job
CleanSafe considers environmental impact as part of the planning and delivery of each job, particularly where water, cleaning chemicals, biocides, powered equipment or vehicle travel are involved.
Chemical & Biocide Use
Products are selected according to the surface, contamination and intended result. Dilution, application and dwell times follow manufacturer guidance, with care taken around drainage, vegetation and surrounding materials.
Water Efficiency
We aim to use water in a controlled and proportionate way, avoiding unnecessary continuous flow and selecting methods that suit the task rather than relying automatically on high-volume rinsing.
Runoff & Drainage
Before exterior cleaning begins, we consider how water and residues may move across the site. Where necessary, we adjust application methods, protect sensitive areas and manage runoff to reduce avoidable environmental impact.
Equipment & Energy Use
Professional equipment is selected for the job and maintained to support efficient operation. When adding new equipment, we consider factors such as durability, repairability, water efficiency and energy use.
Travel & Route Planning
Where practical, we group work geographically, combine services at the same property and plan routes to reduce unnecessary journeys and duplication.
PROTECTING SURFACES & SURROUNDINGS
The Least Aggressive Effective Approach
CleanSafe aims to achieve the required cleaning or restoration result while avoiding unnecessary damage, excessive water use and avoidable disturbance to the property or surrounding environment.
Before work begins, consideration may be given to:
the surface material and its condition
adjacent finishes and surrounding property
windows, doors and external fixtures
landscaping and vegetation
drainage and water movement
electrical installations
access and working conditions
the level and type of contamination
Where appropriate, we may use test cleaning, lower-pressure methods, controlled application, mechanical cleaning or specialist treatment rather than relying automatically on aggressive pressure washing.
This approach helps protect the property itself while also supporting more efficient use of water, chemicals and other resources.
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
Responsibility, Review & Ongoing Improvement
CleanSafe recognises that environmental responsibility is an ongoing process rather than a one-off policy commitment.
We review our working methods, equipment, products and operational practices as the business develops, with the aim of improving efficiency, reducing avoidable waste and adopting better methods where practical.

method statements
site-specific planning
toolbox talks
incident and near-miss reviews
supplier and product reviews
annual policy review
Overall responsibility for the Environmental Policy rests with the CleanSafe partners, with operational implementation supported by the Acting Operations Manager / Lead Technician.
The full policy is reviewed at least annually, and also when significant changes are made to CleanSafe’s services, equipment, products or environmental risks.
